Stucco Repair & Painting Services

Is Your Stucco Protecting Your Home, or Letting Water In?

Stucco is one of the most durable, attractive, and popular exterior finishes in our area. When done right, it provides a classic look that withstands the elements for decades.

But look closer.

Do you see hairline cracks branching out from your window frames? Are there dark, stained patches where the sprinklers hit the wall? Do you see white, chalky powder (efflorescence) appearing on the surface?

These aren’t just cosmetic blemishes. They are the first signs that your home’s armor is failing. Stucco is rigid. When your home settles or temperatures fluctuate, it cracks. Once those cracks open, water finds a way in. In our humid climate, moisture trapped behind stucco rots wood framing, rusts metal lath, and feeds mold colonies—all while the outside still looks “mostly fine.”

You don’t need a mason to rebuild your house. You need a coating specialist who understands the science of masonry.

Precision Paint Experts provides comprehensive Stucco Repair & Painting Services. We don’t just paint over the cracks; we seal the building envelope. We use high-performance elastomeric coatings that stretch, breathe, and waterproof your property, saving you from catastrophic repair bills down the road.

The Strategic Benefits of Professional Stucco Care

Maintaining stucco requires more than a bucket of exterior latex from the hardware store. Using the wrong paint can actually cause damage by trapping moisture inside the wall. Here is why hiring a specialist is the smartest investment for your property.

1. True Waterproofing with Elastomeric Coatings

Standard paint creates a thin film. Elastomeric paint creates a thick, rubberized membrane.

  • Bridging Cracks: Elastomeric coatings can stretch up to 300%. If a new hairline crack forms in the stucco underneath, the paint stretches across it, keeping the seal intact and the water out.

  • Wind-Driven Rain: In our area, storms push water horizontally. Our coatings are rated to withstand wind-driven rain, acting as a shield for your structure.

2. Texture Matching Artistry

The biggest fear homeowners have with stucco repair is the “scar.” If a patch is applied poorly, it stands out like a sore thumb—a smooth blob on a textured wall.

  • Seamless Blending: Our technicians are artisans. Whether you have a Sand Finish, Spanish Lace, Cat Face, or Dash texture, we have the tools and technique to match the patch to the existing wall. Once painted, the repair disappears.

3. Preventing “Stucco Spalling”

When water gets into stucco and expands (due to heat or freeze/thaw cycles), it pushes the face of the stucco off. This is called spalling. By sealing the surface professionally, we stop this cycle of deterioration before chunks of your wall start falling off.

4. Breathability

This is critical. Stucco is like a sponge; it absorbs moisture vapor from the interior of the home. If you seal it with a non-breathable oil-based paint or cheap latex, that vapor gets trapped, blistering the paint and rotting the wall. We use coatings with high perm ratings that block liquid water from entering but allow water vapor to escape.

5. Curb Appeal and Value

Stains, rust streaks from nails, and mildew growth make a home look tired. A fresh, uniform coat of high-quality paint makes the masonry look brand new, instantly boosting your property value.

Why Choose Precision Paint Experts?

Stucco painting is a niche skill. You need a contractor who understands masonry, waterproofing, and aesthetics.

1. Expertise & Authority

We understand the chemistry of concrete and stucco. We know why efflorescence happens (salt migration) and how to stop it. We know which textures require which application methods. We aren’t just painters; we are exterior preservationists.

2. Comprehensive Exterior Care

Often, a stucco home has other elements that need love.

  • Wood Accents: Do you have timber trusses or a wooden front door? We offer wood staining and finishing to make those accents pop against the fresh stucco.

  • Commercial Capabilities: We handle large-scale commercial exterior painting, including hotels and office buildings with EIFS or traditional stucco systems.

3. Licensed & Insured

Stucco work often involves ladders and scaffolding. We carry full liability and workers’ compensation insurance. You are protected from risk while we are on your property.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if I need elastomeric paint?

If your stucco has many hairline cracks or if you live in an area with driving rain and high humidity (like our local area), elastomeric is highly recommended. It creates a waterproof barrier that standard acrylics cannot match. We will assess your home’s condition and recommend the right product during the estimate.

Yes, but it must cure first. Traditional stucco usually needs to cure for 30 days to release moisture and lower its pH level. However, we can use specialized “hot stucco” primers that allow us to paint as soon as 7 days after application if you are on a tight schedule.

Texture matching is an art, not an exact science, but we get very close. By using the same application tools (trowels, sponges, hoppers) as the original installer, and by painting the entire wall corner-to-corner, the repair becomes virtually invisible to the naked eye.

This is often due to “rising damp” or splash-back from the roofline. If the stucco goes all the way into the dirt, it wicks moisture up from the ground. We may recommend trenching out the dirt slightly or installing a gravel break to prevent this before painting.

Absolutely. A fresh stucco job looks incomplete with dirty soffits or rotting fascia boards. We handle all exterior surfaces, including trim and molding painting, to give your home a complete facelift.
